Captain Don Smith passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Nov 1, 2015 in his 91st year. Don was a proud WWII Veteran and a member of the Pickering Fire Department for 33 years. He was a past President and Secretary of the PPFA L 1632.

Mar 18, 2014 Bruce C. writes "I would like to thank all those people who are and have prayed for me over the last two weeks. I am on the road to recovery after my cardiac procedures in Nicaragua. Gracias to my JOY Team and especially Laird. Gracias to the sewing team and nurse Nancy. I had great care at the hospital and from Dr Daniel Rivas and his team at Vivian Pellas hospital in Nicaragua. Gracias Dios for your many blessings like friends and healing."
Mar 9. 2014 - Spoke with Bruce Compton today. He has arrived home safely from his recent ministry in Nicaragua. Unfortunately he suffered from a heart condition and had to have a stent put into his right artery and also had two balloon angioplasties done. Bruce is feeling better and recovering at home.

Firefighter 1st Class Tom Serroul has passed away. A service was held on January 30, 2014 at McEachnie Funeral home.
PC (RET) Bruce Compton writes "This photo of my friend and fellow firefighter, Tommy Serroul, was taken on his retirement in 1997. He passed away on Friday January 24 from cancer. I will always remember him as a person who was willing to go the extra mile to help us coming up through the ranks. My heart felt condolences to Carol and the kids. May God's grace strengthen you in knowing that Tommy was a true servant in helping and guiding those in need. Tommy will be missed."

Capt. Don Smith has sold his home in Pickering and has moved to Seagrave to be with his daughter Linda and son-in-law Willis.
Dispatcher Linda Riding is still living near Belleville and in her own words "It’s now been 3 1/2 years since my surgery for pancreatic
cancer. I underwent 6 months of chemo and just recently had a blood test which shows I’m still cancer free!"
